Thank-you and Have a Great Summer!

Hello Grade 6 Families,

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for your support this year.  We had an absolutely amazing group of students who we are going to miss very much but will be ready for Jr High.

Please know that you are always welcome at SVS if you need a friendly face or a word of encouragement.

Have a great summer and we hope you visit in the fall!

Year-end News and Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

‘Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage’—Anais Nin

Dr. Jody Carrington defines brave as ‘diving into something, with your whole heart, without knowing the outcome.’  Since the middle of March,  students, parents, and staff of Simons Valley School have entered each day with hope and courage. Each day has been an adventure, not always an easy one but where bravery has been abundant. We are so grateful to be a part of this amazing community! We are down to our last few days and so as we wrap up the school year, here are a few reminders.

A final,  SVS ‘Drop by and Drop Off’ Food Drive, will be held from June 23rd - 25th from 9am – 3pm. Green bins will line the ramp leading into the parking lot where donations can be dropped off.

From June 23-25th from 9 am – 3 pm, Simons Valley parents may return library books and home reading books. A labeled drop off site will be set up by the Kindergarten area. At this same time, families who have not yet picked up their child’s school supply bags may do so.

All loaned Chrome Book laptops need to be returned to the school between June 23rd- 25th    between 9 am - 3 pm.
Please contact Mrs. Davidoff at 403-777-6660, if you are unable to drop off during these dates/times.

Given COVID-19 restrictions, June report cards will be made available online through MyCBE/PowerSchool. Once logged in, select the “Report Card” tab to view the report card. If a printed report card is required, please contact the school to arrange a time to safely collect it during school hours by June 26th. Please our school website for printing directions.

Grade 6 parents may pick up their child/children’s yearbook from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 25. There will be a designated drive-through area, in front of the school, where you can stay in your car and Ms. Blyth/Mrs. Davidoff will hand out a yearbook.

Kindly,
Mrs. Davidoff

News from the Office-Bussing

Dear Parents,
Please help us plan yellow school bus routes for next year by pre-registering before June 14, 2020.
We know that there are many unknowns and we do not yet know what September will look like for return to school. We understand that you may not have finalized your decisions for September. However, if you do not pre-register by June 14, we will not include your address as bus routes are planned. It may take up to 4 weeks to add a bus stop for you, and congregated stop locations are only reviewed once per year. As a result, your stop location may be much further away from your home, as your address was not included in the route planning. There is no requirement to pay at the time of registration, and there is no financial penalty if you register for bus service and cancel before the cancellation deadline.

If you have not already done the following, please do so now:
1. Create a Parent CBE PowerSchool Account using your student’s CBE number above by following the instructions at this website: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html

2. Sign up for school emails by “subscribing” to School Messenger: http://calgary.schoolmessenger.com/cbe_subscribe

Kindly,
Gina Davidoff
Assistant Principal
