Week #1!

Dear Grade 6 Parents and Students,

We have had a great first week getting to know each other and learning about the exciting things we will be doing this year in grade 6.  Thank you to all of the parents who reached out to me this week and I look forward to meeting with all of you during the Parent/ Teacher conferences on September 19th and 20th.

We worked this week on learning about our strengths as learners, focusing on visual learning, auditory and kinesthetic learning.  The students completed three tests to see how well they could remember a series of random items using their eyes, ears, and sense of touch.  We will be taking this information and graphing our results. These results will be posted around the room and we will discuss how different types of projects match different types of learning styles.

To help us get to know the students, we started our "All About Me" project, which began by having the students fill in a graphic organizer about their families, backgrounds,  favorite foods, movies, books, etc.  The students then started a "sketch note" about themselves that will be posted so other students can get to know them. Students also completed a letter to the teacher with more information about successful learning accommodations and what areas of schooling they enjoy the best.

Don't forget to check out our class website for resources. It is below but I have also permanently linked it on the right-hand side.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Reeve
